Alex's journey continues

While Alex’s family had done all they could to support him, he was unable to control a serious drink problem. He was served with one ASBO after another and as a last resort the county judge remanded him in custody.

When the Chaplain at HMP Exeter first met him, he could see that Alex needed help. He was referred to SWCC, and a community chaplain began to meet and get to know him. We were there with Alex and his family when he was released from prison, we helped to liaise with the council’s solicitor, and with housing and ASBO officers. We also found him a place in a residential support centre where he could learn life skills and explore work and training opportunities.

Although Alex stayed out of trouble with the law for some months, he still struggles to stay away from alcohol. We will continue to support Alex for as long as his journey takes.
